Marty, Andy, Jake and Jack say Thank-You

Together through community we CAN all make a difference.

I used to feel somewhat useless when hearing of another family’s struggle when learning one of their children was ill, now I am walking that path feeling somewhat powerful.  After learning of Jack’s illness on March 5th of this year, I have not looked back and asked what could we have done differently but I am determined to look ahead and wonder what can we do to help… to make a difference and stop this from ever happening again.   I realize that I cannot help Jack out medically apart from taking him to his countless number of hospital visits; however I can help Jack to find ways to feel in control of his cancer.  We look for ways to win over cancer, ways to feel stronger than cancer and find ways to lessen the strength of cancer and increase the power that we have.  We have been and will continue to fundraise to assist those that are faced with the challenges of having a child who has a life threatening illness.  On days I feel weak, I look at Jack and feel strong again.  As his parents, Jack has taught us so much through this whole ordeal.

We want to assist our own oncology ward at VGH to help those families on our island stay close to home when undergoing treatment while ensuring the best possible treatments are made available.  The best medicine for Jack was coming home and being surrounded by his brothers while enduring chemotherapy and the effects that it presented.  Mini sticks in the basement, and some days it meant just watching, was an amazing anti-nauseating treatment drug for Jack!

Our ultimate goal?  So all kids CAN… so all kids can get up and go, run and play and be with their peers.  However, while children who are sick and cannot, we will help them to WIN the race against childhood cancers!  Please come and join us in supporting our local hospital, families living with cancer and make cancer part of our history.  We will do our best to provide some FUN exciting opportunities along the way!  Please consider joining us in our venture to put an end to cancer…we would love for you to be a part.

Yes, this is Jack’s team… but Jack’s team is bigger than a standard 5 player hockey line… Jack’s team is beyond our family, it’s beyond our neighbours, and it’s beyond our community.  Jack’s team holds our future, our grandkids and their kids.  Let’s commit to making a difference now so… ALL kids CAN!

Thank you in advance…

Love Jack, his mom Mena, his Dad Norm, his big brothers Marty & Andy and his younger brother Jake
